Want to work flexible hours to fit around your life?

Want blocks of guaranteed income?

Want the satisfaction of completing discreet pieces of work?

Want work that you can ‘pick up and put down’ rather than ‘holding’, as we do in therapy?

But feel anxious about the idea of court work and being called an ‘expert’?

Worried about doing the right thing within the legal processes?

New to this type of work?

Don’t want to feel alone in doing this work?

Then perhaps we could team up and work together.

If you’re curious about this, let’s have a chat and you can find out more.

We're creating a working environment at Family Law Psychology that supports us as Clinical Psychologists to feel safe and connected to others doing the same work. A place where we can ask our peers any questions about the legal processes and hear about research and developments within the family court/expert witness arena. A supervision space to reflect on our assessments and keep learning from each other.

Family Law Psychology Associates is a welcoming professional home to come back to after working ‘out there’ on complex court assessments.

What support do I get?

    • Full admin support from enquiry to assessment. This means that once you’ve been allocated (‘instructed’) an assessment, you will receive a link to a folder with all of the background information, documents, medical records, contact numbers of schools, social workers and all relevant people so you can get straight into the assessment.
    • 1 hour of 1:1 supervision with Becky Quicke, Clinical Director per case.
    • Access to 1 hour group supervision per month.

How much do I get paid?

Legally aided cases: In these cases you'll receive £70 ph (legal aid rates are £100.80 ph when you assess a child and £94.60 ph when you assess an adult).

Privately funded cases: In these cases you'll receive £110 ph for adult and child assessments (Family Law Psychology rates are £150ph)

We quote legal aid hours per case (in legally aided AND privately funded cases). This means that if you assess 1 individual you will be given 25 hours for the assessment and report. If you assess 2 individuals you have 35 hours. An additional 10 hours is given per individual. See here for a summary of the legal aid guidance.

So, in a legally aided case you will receive approx. £1,750 for an assessment of 1 parent or child with us and £2,450 for 2 individuals and so on. In a privately funded case you'll receive approx. £2,750 for 1 person and £3,850 for 2 people and so on. You will receive the travel time and mileage directly (ie. We don’t take any of those costs from you). The rates are currently £40 ph travel time and £0.45 per mile.

If you're interested in working with us, get in touch with Becky. She'd love to hear from you.
